What if I told you, for 10 bucks extra, you can get this with a 3 Year Joma Warranty ?

ColorBlindYeah this is not a deal at all. It's basically a Seiko 5 with a better case.

mk37Seiko 5's are generally built pretty tough, except for their bezel action. Hearing a Seiko 5's bezel action is painful to the ear.....N the SNZF is no different. That being said, I cant fathom why people are annoyingly clever to pay close to avg market price for a watch with no warranty whatsoever? Am i that stupid?

ColorBlindYeah by Seiko 5 I meant the SNK's since this is literally a Seiko 5 but no warranty is definitely a no no. I'm not even sure how Massdrop handles stuff that's defective upon arrival with no warranty.

ColorBlindFor a $130 watch all a warranty means is that they will replace it. That's cheaper for them than to have a service person pop the case back off. I'm not sure they do it will everything, but I think that Massdrop will refund your money on a watch or anything else that has an obvious problem within the first few weeks, and 95 percent of problems present themselves right away, so for all practical purposes that's equivalent to a warranty. I'm not sure if Jomashop repairs watches at this level or not or just sends you a replacement.
I think $10 is pretty high for a warranty for this kind of watch. It means that you expect that one in fourteen Seikos are going to break on you within the warranty period. I think their quality level is better than that. Maybe not six sigma, but even two sigma is about a one in 20 defect rate. If you bought 14 watches and put $10 in a savings account each time, you'd probably end up with 14 working watches and enough cash to buy a 15th as a spare.

CloacaJomashop warranty is not the best but I believe they will either replace/repair (but probably replace) any defective products for 2/3 years (whatever it says on the page). I doubt Massdrop will do anything to help you past a few days or even a few weeks with no warranty.

mk37Yes, you're right that Massdrop is not going to help after a few weeks, other than what the Massdrop warranty includes, if there is a Massdrop warranty for the particular drop. But I've read any number of messages here where the members says that Massdrop has refunded their money. Often they are disappointed because they wanted the product, and of course on Massdrop there is no more inventory after a drop ends. Most watch problems are hands that have fallen off under the crystal or movements that are DOA. In these twe cases Massdrop would refund, I'm pretty sure, since you notice them immediately.
I have Jomashop watches, and in fact I have two that have occasionaly balky stems. but they are Swiss and both divers, and I do not really want anyone taking off the caseback unless I am watching. I want to see the gasket and make sure it goes back in correctly. Even then, I'd rather at least have a dry test of the watch confirming water resistance. And living overseas, I don't want to send Jomashop a watch where I have to pay postage and then perhaps have to explain things to customs when it comes back.

CloacaMassdrop gives you little or no warranty as usual. I purchased a dash cam and it broke down after one month. Massdrop told me they only warranty for 30 days and after that I have to contact the manufacturer in China and they wouldn't even provide me the contact information. If you are buying electronic or mechanical items from Massdrop please think twice about their warranty services before you throw your money away.

CloacaAfter trying to correlate a retailer's warranty to SEIKO's quality standards, you further go on to include six sigma into the equation to justify your claim? Sorry, but your reasoning is hyperbolically overstated! The 10$ extra is not for the 3 years of warranty, but a retailer to retailer price difference. Its just that Joma goes a little further to provide customers with an aftermarket warranty. Would you really need it? Well, I wont be brave enough to say NO! I have read reviews where MD flat out rejects customer returns for products that were found to be defective after 30 days but well within 2 months of their purchase; I believe a few Seikos were included. Derive an equation for Seiko movement failure rate with just a few data points from MD & i will buy you a beer. The only time i buy a product from MD is when they clearly state "manufacturers warranty." I also think MD should clearly state "No Warranty" where applicable, so new customers are not misguided.
