I am looking to buy my first automatic watch. Would the helpful experts here recommend the Seiko 5 or the Orient Defender? Any other options in the sub $200 range that you guys think I should look at?

fdp05Orient Defender is the better deal since it's made in Japan, this particular Seiko is assembled in Malaysia. Which style do you like better? Just get that one. I would also check out the Seiko SNZH57J1 for a retro styled watch, the Seiko SKX007J1 for a true divers watch (not just diver "styled"), Orient Mako, Ray and Mako II are well within that price range as well. I believe Seiko and Orient kind of own the $200 price range. Borealis Sea Diver is on sale for $200 right now. Go to cheapestnatostraps.com and get their package deal of the five best sellers for $25 and you will have a nice watch setup.
