I have a few automatics of great quality but purchased two Seiko SOLAR watches and haven't worn any of my autos or quartz. Solar is much more convenient and NO batteries or watch winders. Personal choice.

rayce444Titanium jewelry is lighter, stronger and more durable than gold. You can offer your girlfriend a titanium engagement ring, and if she actually accepts it you KNOW that she really loves you. Most of us though, we like our jewelry in precious metals.
Your phone can tell you the time. A true time piece is an exceptional piece of mechanical engineering. You can and should enjoy your Casio or whatever, but most of us love the mechanical computers on our wrists.

TigerUKThanks....I'm aware of that. My point was, for instance, I bought my first solar watch 14 years ago and it still charges as well as it did when I bought it. Standard battery powered watches will eventually need a new battery which, for many manufacturers, will void any waterproof warranty. Solar just makes more technical sense....IMO.

rayce444All batteries degrade over time. the charge/discharge eventually wears out all batteries. solar wartch batteries are not servicable, sometimes they are soldered onto the circuit board.
You will find that when the time comes when the battery is exhausted and worn down you will find difficulty replacing them.
