The description is wrong, it's not a sapphire crystal. I was a bit surprised when I saw this as Seiko typically doesn't do sapphire, they use their 'hardened glass' which is just not the same. That's what this one is as well, 'Hardlex' aka 'hardened glass'. Pretty much every other source for this watch has the correct description..... And if @pedrobeo is correct and the movement fails, I'm not sure Seiko will honor the warranty if you don't buy it from an authorized dealer.....

ckm5Interesting. I have another Sportura watch (SNA481) which *does* have sapphire. Amazon also lists this one (I'm guessing it's the SNAE97) as having sapphire, as does Creation Watches. Joma says it has hardlex, and so does World of Watches. I wonder who's correct?

SmithyNZ I'm surprised yours has it. I actually had a Sportura almost exactly like yours (maybe the exact same one, don't remember) and it def. wasn't sapphire, it's one of the reasons I sold it.
AFAIK, Seiko almost never uses sapphire other than on some very high-end watches (Grand Seiko et al). Their reasoning has been that sapphire is not ideal, if you need a durable watch, it's actually worse as it is brittle. Sellers often mis-represent Hardlex as sapphire, which it isn't.
At this price point, I'd be shocked if it was sapphire - maybe sapphire coated?

It’s only $5 more on Amazon, and I don‘t need to wait 3 months to get it. Lately, the only purpose Massdrop serves is to give me ideas of things to buy elsewhere without the outrageous shipping delays.

what material is the watch band made of?
Can't stand how the subs cut through the numerals. You're better off getting an SNA411.

Does this have Tritium, or what does it have for Night reading?

I've had other Seikos with this movement and they eventually fail, at least in my experience. Hold on to that warranty card.
