Why are these $32 (and $59 at MSRP)?

They're asking why these nail clippers are $32 as apposed to like $2 that you can get clippers for normally.

Dynamikloledit: looks like the question got answered, but here's my tirade anyway!
Why do some headphones cost $1000 when I can just use earbuds? Why do people spend $30 on a keycap when they don't even need them? Why do people spend $5000 on a watch when there's a phone in my pocket that's super accurate?
It comes down to materials, construction, brand, history, performance, longevity, things like that. Those factors are important to some people and not to others. I could live my life never writing with a fountain pen and have a perfectly happy existence, but I can also understand why people geek out about them. Massdrop is for enthusiasts, so we sell them the products they care about - they're not for everybody, but we love them.

IanAndersonfalse equivalency. nail clippers are not audiophile headphones. they're not luxury watches. these clippers cost chump change to manufacture, the margins are ridiculous. they're not sophisticated products that require countless hours devoted to r&d, design, and manufacturing. anyone with half a brain would know this. they function as good as any normal priced clippers, fact.
shameless salesman

iGrenadeNot all nail clippers are the same. If you actually knew this. You wouldn't say they're basically the same. These clippers aren't close to boutique but they're better than any I've ever owned in my lifetime. Good luck arguing with that.

BrainFlushi don't need to. "argue with that" because that's not. what i said. i never claimed they were basically the same.

iGrenade"they function as good as any normal priced clippers, fact." Because they all cut nails, you are saying they're the same. I am saying they're not.
And here's some R&D clippers, so there goes that part too. http://www.klhip.com/ Wish these would drop again.

BrainFlushI said they function as good as any normal priced clippers, I didn't say they are "basically the same because they cut nails." They are far from being identical statements. Nice strawman again.
Budget for r&d can vary greatly across product categories, so linking me to another brand of clippers don't refute anything I said. R&d, design, and manufacturing for highly sophisticated audiophile headphones will obviously involve a lot more resources than for clippers. There goes another part of your rebuttal. More false equivalency. It's clear you need to work on your reading and debate skills.

iGrenadeFunction. Cut.
Let's not clip words.
R&D is still R&D no matter what the product is. Cost is irrelevant.

BrainFlushHow can cost be irrelevant when the whole premise of my first comment was about the ridiculously high margins of these clippers? R&D can vary greatly depending on the product. R&D for a pharmaceutical drug would be completely different from "R&D" for a nail clipper.
I'm not "clipping words," I called you out on your strawman. Something isn't true just because you said so.
