Should I go with these (open) or the g4me zero(closed)? I have always had closed headphones, and I am curious to try an open one.

project319@project319 It depends on what you are going to use them on. the Zero’s WERE 150 ohms in which you would have had to think about an amp for the true sound quality that these were meant to be and drive. But it looks like they changed the impedance for some reason and the only real difference is the open vs closed and the ear cups being soft foam or pleather.
I had the older Zero’s and I did not like them for the xbox or ps since the controller nor the astro mixup does not drive them well. But now since they are 50 ohms I might give them a shot.
As far as the closed vs open. These being open, I feel the sound is a little more open (badum tsh), seriously though. I have both open and closed audiophile headphones and if these are used for gaming, IMO, open is the way to go. However from time to time I like my closed to "feel" more involved. I don't think these are as open as they look - I know they have a different ear cup and they are open but I have a feeling they are going to be more mid open than real open hp's. For example a "real" open hp is something like the ATH-ADG1 's those are crazy open lol
Honestly the price is great for both on here so get both since it would be only spending $100 more than buying just one pair from Sennheiser, TBO it's up to you and what your preference is for sound and quality

bjw@project319 that is not necessarily true the new version of the game zero is 50 ohms and comes with a detachable cable as well and I can tell you that they are extremely comfortable and although they are leatherette I've played hours on end without making my ears sweat or feel hot. But u can't go wrong with whatever you choose the game ones are on sale right now and is a great choice for a headset.

Blacky_the_BearThe older models were 150 ohms. Not sure why they change them

Blacky_the_BearSeriously. Why did Sennheiser change the impedance of the zeros? That's the reason I was going with the ones since I didn't feel like running an amp on my Xbox one. They used to be 150
Even the mass drop description says 150. That why I got rid of the older ones. Well now I am on the dense of either these or the zeros. Seriously!!!
