Philips SHP9500s on Newegg for $52. I listen to electronic music and enjoy bass. That, or this?

I would say no. I love my SHP9500s but think they sound best for jazz and acoustic rock type stuff. I use closed-backs for hip hop and electronic music. Not too sure how the HD579s would fare either as both of these are open-backed, and bass is almost always sacrificed. But for $52, why not? I did.

The SHP9500S is a great deal but definitely bass-lite. My friend uses the bass boost switch on his E10K dac/amp which works well enough for him. You can also try eq'ing them but they definitely aren't bass-y cans.

Drift6216Funny, for me they have earth shattering bass (that in the positive way), just perfect. And I thought I am a basshead. I guess we all have different levels of tolerance.
