Headbands on this style of headphones from Sennheiser will crack and break. I have been through 3 pairs all cracked and broke, same spot on right side. I took excellent care of them too, placing them on a headphone stand when not in use. I am still wondering why Sennheiser uses this poor design. Should spend a little more and get Beyerdynamic DT 770. If you are looking for bang for buck get Philips SHP9500s. Both the Beyerdynamic DT 770 and Philips SHP9500s both are solid headphones.

kmccormickDoes "this style" include the 598? I've had mine a few years, no problem with the headband. Actually one of the comfier pairs I've owned. And I just lay them down on my desk when I'm not using them.

MrBeanYes, 598 would be included. If you have had them a few years, they may break any time. My experience was after 2-3 years of use they would crack near where the top screws are on the right side arm. Went through 3 different pairs in about a 7 year period, then decided enough was enough. I got some Beyrdynamic DT 880 headphones and the way they are build I expect them to last forever.

kmccormickI also have an hd598 and hd598cs and never had any problems at all. Mine go on a brainwavz hooka on my wall beside my desk. I take the closed version out on the bus and to work/school and never had a problem. How many have you had that broke? If it's only 1 it could've been faulty, if it isn't just 1 why do you keep buying more? Also there's a warranty, use it :)

kiineticHad 3 pairs. I like the first pair so much I go 2 more when the first pair cracked. Then after the first pair broke, I started using the second pair. They cracked after about 2, broke year later just like first. Same thing with the last pair. That was when I got the Beyerdynamics DT 880s, 4 years and going they are rock solid.
