Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Lower impedance, wider and flatter frequency response with a higher output. You might say that 112 dB output is unnecessary, but the reality is with any set of speakers when you are limited by a low max output the speakers start to self compress the signal far before you've hit the output ceiling. Higher output speakers, whether they are loudspeakers or headphones will produce a more open and dynamic sound.
What's funny is that the HD600's have a MUCH higher MSRP than the HD6-Mix even though the HD6-Mix beats the HD600's on all specs. But the "Audiophile" market is one that's easy to upsale to unfortunately.
I'm sure anyone getting these headphones will be very pleased, but wanted to let the community know that there are other options out there, and maybe in the future we can get a massdrop for some HD6 Mix headphones. That being said, I'll probably purchase a pair of these headphones myself because I'm a bit of a gear addict ;-)
