The Shanling M1 sounded pretty mediocre, so no reason to believe this will do any better. But hey, you get all these great inaudible formats support, so good for them.

DimaGHead-Fi.org has a lot of reviews for Shanling M2S, this is one of the best compact non-Android based players around. https://www.head-fi.org/showcase/shanling-m2s-ak4490eq-mini-bluetooth-dsd256-hifi-lossless-music-player.22354/reviews#reviews and https://www.head-fi.org/threads/shanling-m2s-hi-res-dap-with-ak4490-muse8920-bluetooth-usb-out.843643/
Whether hi-resolution audio sounds audible or not is a matter of one's ears and equipment, but you have a point here, the upper 108dB SNR and DR of 108dB corresponds with max bit depth/sampling rates of 24/96. Though, it does not mean that anything above it is just for convenience, there's a lot more in DSD and DXD sound than just sampling rates.
