Is it normal if the two grooves for resting my fingers aren't aligned symmetrically with the nib?
Absolutely. The pen can be disassembled, so you can pull out the nib and feed and rotate them to whatever position you think is best suited for you. Just remember to remove the cartridge/converter beforehand.

Watch this video for a visual walkthrough.

Does anyone have any experience with the Fine Sheaffer Prelude nibs? I ordered an F but I am starting to wish I got an M after reading a bit more about fountain pens.
Thanks again for joining this drop! With your help we were able to make it successful for the community. We've just submitted the group's order with the vendor for the Sheaffer Prelude Fountain Pens and they are working hard to prepare it for shipment.

As soon as the group's order is ready at the vendor's location, they will send the bulk shipment to our warehouse in New Jersey where our warehouse team will break it up into individual orders and ship them directly to you! The current estimated ship date from our warehouse is 4/13.

Rest assured that we we will provide you all with updated information regarding the status of your order throughout the process. You can expect an update from us by the end of the day Pacific Time on 4/1.
I'm glad to see that Massdrop seems to have established a connection with Sheaffer (Bic) now. My Sheaffer 300 is one of my favourite pens, and I can only hope that others will have the opportunity to mirror my experience with one too. (on another note, I'd definitely consider getting in on a drop if the Sheaffer 100 ever gets offered)
I own one of these Sheaffer pens and I am a big fan of their products. My particular version of this pen turned out to be a "dud." The plastic threads on the section (the part of the pen that holds the feed and the nib and screws into the barrel -- the metal part that holds the ink supply) are too soft for the metal threads on the metal so after a few fillings (and I was careful not to cross-thread) the section will not stay attached to the metal barrel. It will go back to Sheaffer for warranty work but I hope that they have re-engineered the plastic of the section or else you will face the same issue that I am facing.
Weird that the Brushed Chrome looks different on the Nickel plated nib and the Gold plated nib. This sparked my interest mainly in the main picture of the brushed chrome and half gold nib but was a bit confused after looking at the three pictures on the bottom.

EDIT: Apparently this is actually the Parker Sonnet but revised due to the designer/maker moving over to Sheaffer after leaving Parker. So The Prelude should be better than the Sonnet.
I do own one of these pens with a medium nib. I really do like the weight of the pen. It does write a bit wet compared to other pens. I find it fairly smooth and like writing with it. Just beware that the grip takes a while to get used to. If you have a bit of a slanted grip this might not be the pen for you. Also note that the pen has a slight tendency to leak ink into the cap, but its very small amounts. Overall, a great pen to write with.
These look GORGEOUS! I've always had good experience with Sheaffer products.
I am new to fountain pens and it was only after I had received my two Metropolitans that I found one Prelude in my house, hidden away in a dark corner of a library.
It is a custom one, given as a gift from a company my father used to work for, so I cannot share my experience when it comes to the looks of the common Prelude, but the pens look great in these photos.
The pen is pretty hefty for its size, I really feel it when I hold it, and I have pretty big and heavy hands.
The cap seals with a satisfying snap and I've found that it keeps the pen from drying out, even when I leave it for days without writing. I've had no hard starts with it, even when there were times that I expected to have some.
The medium nib writes a little wet, but it isn't smooth. It is scratchier than the Metropolitan medium. Sometimes I feel it is too scratchy (no paper tearing though) and I am currently waiting for a loupe to inspect the tines of the nib for any misalignment. The pen was left for I don't know how many years without proper care and maintenance, so this might be to blame for that not-so-smooth nib.
EDIT: It nib-creeps like crazy, too. The ink even gets on the lowest part of the section, right above the nib.

On the good side, it disassembles completely, making it easy to thoroughly clean the nib and feed.

I think it is a nice pen and I wish I had one in a black onyx lacquer finish. Well, I might get it some time, but for now I am going to stick to my Metropolitans (damn they are great).
Sheaffer makes great pens. They tend to write wet. Some reviews of the Prelude:
