We've repeatedly been in touch with the vendor and they've informed us that they are still awaiting a new batch of units to ship to our warehouse to complete the group's order. We will keep checking in until everything is en route to us and turned around to each of you.
Again, we understand that the additional wait time is undesirable. If you would prefer to cancel your order, please contact Community Support using the “Contact Support” button in your transactions page (http://massdrop.com/transactions).
You can expect an update from us on 10/17 or sooner if something comes up.

The group's bulk order arrived earlier to our warehouse in New Jersey and many of the individual packages have already shipped back out. However, upon taking inventory of everything received, our team was made aware of a backorder affecting a small handful of units. Rest assured, we've reached back out to the vendor to resolve this hiccup and expect to have the remaining units in our warehouse shortly.

Wow, I'm really disappointed. I thought this would be a nicer knife. "Fake" Damascus (only a surface treatment; the pattern doesn't continue through the steel), and obvious edges and a couple burrs at the handle joins. I mean, it will cut things. But a Wusthof at half the price has noticeably better construction.
Oh well.

Wicked sharp and oh so balanced. I love every bit of a Shiki knife ...note: do NOT cut red cabbage with it.

VG10 steel is highly corrosion resistant. Not as much as, say, the X50CRMoV15 steel used in German kitchen knives that prioritize corrosion resistance above all else, but with considerably better edge retention. The underwhelming Wusthof knives in my kitchen can sit in a pan of water for a week or go through the dishwasher (very bad idea) and come out fine, whereas the Japanese VG10 knives in my kitchen would get rust spots in the face of that kind of abuse. But the Wusthofs hold an edge long enough to slice about half a tomato, while VG10 is a great kitchen steel that is very easy to touch up with a honing steel and can go months in between sharpenings. I'd rather take a little more care with washing the knives than have to spend more time (and wear them out) with more sharpening, myself.

Will there be more paring knives? Wanted a set but need a paring option.
