This player is for folks who appreciate high quality sound... mp3 lovers do not apply. Saying that if you want to you can play mp3 on it when upconverted to WAV/FLAC in JRiver, mediamonkey, etc. a simple couple of minutes process. On the sound... it will literally kill most of the DAPs twice or triple its cost.

brainwaveLiterally? It will LITERALLY kill them? :P
No screen and poor navigation makes it kind of a no-go for me as well. Even my $20 Sansa Clip has a screen...

StillhartYep, LITERALLY, it has a lot of sharp angles. :) I put my like twice more costly DAP for sale after hearing this device. The fact this is the only DAP Null Audio carries says for itself.
On the functionality... My vinyl turntable has no screen at all, has a rude and very primitive interface, takes only one "folder" and requires constant maintenance. Oh... and I pay $20 to $45 on average per folder. So, 10-20 folders per micro SD card is perfectly fine with me and I have a lot of 8-16GB microSD cards I don't use anymore laying around...

brainwaveI think the fact that you have to compare it to technology that's 70 years old to make it look good says something. :P

StillhartSure. I also use tubes in my preamps both headphone and full size... this is 100 years old tech. Sounds good to me. But that's a moot point, obviously. :) Alien is for people who could use its interface and sacrifice some convenience for the sound quality.
