These sound great. Huge soundstage for IEMs. Out in the market the price is pretty much fixed at $499 (though someone has an Amazon listing at $470 https://www.amazon.com/Shure-SE535-V-Isolating-Definition-MicroDrivers/dp/B003NSBKT6/ref=sr_1_2?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1492991107&sr=1-2&keywords=shure+se535)
As for the warranty, it's a shame if Massdrop doesn't provide the Shure warranty but...these have detachable cables and hard little plastic earpieces. Shure sells all three parts separately as replacements, and of course you can also get aftermarket cables.
It's difficult for me to guess how they "broke" unless the cable wore out--no big deal, easily replaced--or the earpieces were subjected to a lot of physical pressure, like they got stomped on with heavy boot heels or someone drove a truck over them. I guess you could blow them out if you cranked them to a level that would be completely deafening, but you'd need some serious amping.
Very old Shure IEMs, like the E4 and E5, without detachable cables, did wear out--the cables got brittle and cracked--but with the detachable cables it's hard to imagine what kind of warranty repair you'd need as long as they aren't heavily physically abused. And if you decide to put an earpiece in a nutcracker, you can buy a new one separately.

frequencyresponseI have a pair I got a few years ago from Earphone Solutions for 499 I think. I accidentally dropped the left bud into a cup of hot coffee (!!) , which, I guessed, wouldn't have been covered. So I sent them in with no explanation. SHURE sent me a new pair. I'm very happy with the sound/fit/feel. When I saw that bud (it was like watching it all in slow motio) descending into the steam, my stomach turned and I wanted to cry, to shake my fist at the Deity and curse, to curl up into a ball and refuse nourishment. I cannot live without them and I was just not going to tell them what a fumbling idiot I am. So I did not. Voila! I wouldn't buy w/o warranty though.
