I have the SE215's and I wonder how much better these actually sound. I can't justify a $400 price point just to satisfy my curiosity though.

CokeMachineGlowI went from the SE215's to the 535s. The jump in clarity is definitely there, but if you're expecting the what, 300 dollar price difference type of jump, you will likely be disappointed.
That said, I still use my 535's daily on a Cowon Plenue D with a replaced cable and Comply foam tips, and still enjoy my music during the daily work commute. I doubt I could justify to spend much more on IEM's though, now that I've paid this much for a set. Do I recommend them? Yes. Would I spend that much again on them going from something in the same series? No. Because the Shure Sound Signature is still there, you don't get that 'whoa' effect when you change. But there is definitely a noticeable difference between the two sets, but you're getting into the 'diminishing returns' in terms of price. (Where the SE215's destroy 20-30 dollar earpods for maybe 3 times the price, the 'destroy' factor I don't believe is there from 215 > 535.
If you were looking to spend a few hundred, consider a different line/brand entirely to get that more noticeable change in tonality and quality.

CokeMachineGlowI just purchased the se535 to upgrade from my se 215,I regret that I ever purchased them. due to the return policy I was not able to return them.now im stuck with them. they sound ok at very low volumes, its when you turn up the volume it feels like somebody stuck a sword in my ear they are super bright and ear fatiguing and lack bass I have tried every ear tip from Shure and it seems like the white triple flanged are the ones that reduces the treble down I even tried the Weston tips and no luck. as im typing this reply I am listening to them and trying to like them but I don't think its going to happen.i know this is going to sound stupid but my kz ate treble is much more pleasing to listen to than se535 im no audiophile but i have been into any kind of stereo system there ever was from home to car audio and now headphones since I was a kid.i own several headphones hd58x,600,650, and Beyers, akg and dac/amps. my favorite is my chord mojo. I also have fiio, and toppings nx4. with all that said.I would not buy the se535 they are not worth the money. good thing I didn't get rid of my se215.save your money and find something at lower price and better sounding
