How do these compare to the Westone UM PRO 30? Which ones would you recommend?

romaI opted for the UM Pro 30, since they cost me about $100 less, and sound great IMO. I didn't test them against the SE535 though. When I checked several posts on Head-Fi and a number of other sites, many people preferred the Westone IEMs. Apparently the Westone's are supposed to be more intimate, while the SE535 has better soundstage.

WeirdGI can't really make up my mind, the UM Pro 30 will cost me a little bit more but that's not my main concern.

romaWell, you might want to go down to your nearest audio store to audition both earphones. I have tried both, and i find that the shures are a tad better. Perhaps because I'd used se425 extensively before. I like the shure sound signature better =D. Like what Weird G said, shures have a better soundstage. Of course, these are all subjective and your mileage might vary. Best to go try them out yourself! Either way, regardless of which one you go for, you are getting a top performing pair of headphones. Your ears will thank you =)

GawainSI checked the pricings and found out that the UM 30 Pro were a little cheaper so I went for them plus a cable to use them with my phone. Btw audio stores with good equipment are a very rare thing here

romaCheers mate, UM30Pro are awesome little buds as well. Incidentally, can I know what sort of music do you listen to with them? (I want to explore new genres of music).

GawainSI should have them by the end of the week. I listen to metal/alternative/90s rock, currently I'm listening to Ghost B.C. (all their albums are great, I love the atmosphere of their music), Two Steps From Hell's last album Battleborn (gives me chills), Epica (The Quantum Enigma is my favorite), but also classics like Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Slipknot.

romaFrom your music library, I really think UM30PRO would suit you better! Congrats on the purchase.

romaAgreed... I live in a fairly large city, and I don't think any audio stores allow customers to test IEMs, just over the head headphones. The lowest price I could find the SE535 for, was about $500CAD. The Westone's were $420CAD.
