Please re-launch!
phone a friend! make the call
Massdrop, when will you all re-drop this?
Could we bring this back?
Could we be seeing this making a return any time soon? I'm in the market for one now and would like a discount on it!
is this drop coming back for the holidays?
Hey, what's the deal it says 200 requests needed and there have been 639 requests, so any idea on a new drop?
Pretty keen for this. So how much would it cost in USD? Would this be suitable to use in Australian conditions?
Crust
Yes, this mic is fantastic. Mix it with a good mixer (no pun intended) or audio interface and/or preamp and you have one hell of a microphone setup any audiophile would be jealous of!
Re-launch please!!
Re-launch this please!
Been using my microphone with the MOTU microbook II. fantastic results.
Got the mic!
I got mine a few days ago, and hooked it up to 2 different computers, one with an ASUS Xonar Essence STX with upgraded op-amps, one with a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium HD, also with upgraded op-amps. I also tried the onboard mic inputs for both. To connect them, I'm using a SESCOM Canare Star-Quad Cable 3-Pin XLR Female 3.5mm TRS Male cable. Other mic's from both computer's work, both using the dedicated sound cards and the onboard mic input. Did I just get a dud Shure SM7B Mic?

I can tell you that I do great through a CL2 or CL1 into a zoom h6, Fast Track c600, and an mbox 2 pro. I have a feeling that with the GAP it might even be overkill.
jknyc
Yeah, it probably will be, especially since I got a GAP-73 DLX and not the MKII. All my music is made digitally using a DAW (just got Acid Pro 11 for $300), using an Akai Professional LPK25, so I don't really need more than a single channel. Most of my other uses are for voice-overs and sound effects.
Exciting update! We’re happy to report that all of the orders have been shipped out from our warehouse and are now on the way to you! Please allow 24-48 hours for tracking to get into the shipper's system and start updating.
If there’s anything else we can do to make your Massdrop experience better, feel free to contact us via “Contact Support” button in your transaction page (https://www.massdrop.com/transactions).
Great news group! The vendor has let us know that the group's order was picked up and is on its way to our warehouse now. Based on the tracking provided these are scheduled to come in 3/13. Our warehouse team has been forwarded tracking info and will be standing by, ready to get these packed up and turned around as soon as they come in.
Sometimes shipments get delayed en route, not to worry as we will keep the group posted throughout the process and notify you all if anything causes delay.
Thanks for your patience and expect an update from us on 3/19 or sooner if something comes up.
+1 on the Cloudlifter. I use it on a Heil PR-30. Unless you have a decent preamp you'll want something to get a bit more signal from the mic.
Just a note on this. I got my mic and it sounds fantastic, just like my other SM7b. However the close-talk windscreen is horribly dry-rotted and is shedding foam like a mofo.

(The standard screen is fine). I've discussed with MD support, but they want me to send back the whole mic to replace just the wind screen. This involves shipping and a bunch of other pains.
I've reached out to Shure, and are shipping a new one to me.
Check to make sure your foam is in good shape. If bits are falling off, it's not.

To be clear, when I contacted you all, you offered to help me swap it but wanted to have me ship the whole mic and so on back and forth. I just wanted to swap the windscreen which was far more efficient and simple. I'm sure you'll help though.
Thanks, sent an e-mail!
Sean has been very helpful towards getting this resolved, but it looks like the only outcome is to send the unit back and get a replacement unit. The problem with that is, that the replacement unit could end up also with a windscreen in poor condition.
I will see about calling Shure directly, like jknyc suggests. Otherwise, future buyers would probably want to know that they may end up shelling out $15+ for a new windscreen, if theirs is in poor shape.
Update: After a few back and forth's from MassDrop support, Henry provided me $15 partial refund. Definitely going to be shopping here more, any place that cares about it's customers deserves it!

Wow. Every time I checked this it was still set as a poll (even though already had enough votes). I check back and it's over 2 days past. doh! Don't know why I haven't got any notification. Oh well until next time I see it on sale somewhere. ;)
I'd suggest something on the other side of the mic cable as well. :)
I think this is the mic the recorded thriller.
ProbeRok
It is indeed.
Please note, this is a professional grade recording/broadcast mic. It's dynamic, meaning it does not require external (phantom) power, but it's only output is balanced XLR. You will need some sort of audio interface with XLR inputs (and probably mic preamps) in order to fully utilize this mic.
Looking for an opinion/s here. I need a mic mainly for gaming, but my friend is in need for a mic for youtube recording, music cover and stuff. Just wandering if this would be an overkill, or if those MXL mic is good enough. I'm not an audiophile by any means, but I'd like a clear sound at least, no hiss/crackle.

Yep, basically the 6i6 is for her use. my DAC is because my onboard soundcard is horrid, not for recording purpose. I know the set-up is going to be diffrent if I'm going to do a recording. Just did a lot of reading, overwhelming support for this mic as an all-rounder it seem, even in untreated room. I guess I'm getting this, unless I heard otherwise within 6 days.
Snowball and yeti will absolutely pick up the ambient. But for gaming its really not a big deal. This SM7b will be fantastic for recording though, but definitely overkill for your use. I record a pretty well regarded podcast with this mic in an untreated room and it sounds great. Just bought my second one in this drop.
$299 is a great price. Damn near impossible to find for less than $350. I have one already, and both a CL-1 and a CL-2. Works great with either!
jknyc
If I had an audio interface like the 2i4, would I need to get any other equipment to go with this mic? Like a compressor, mix board, etc or is that done via software? I'm a complete mic noob.
My usage is home/hobbyist so hopefully nothing super expensive.
turkeyrox2
You don't need anything else, save for a stand and a mic cable.
You COULD get other gear, and as some people said, something like a Cloudlifter CL-1 or a Fethead would make the sound even better. But those are not necessary.
Great Price! Cannot be beat anywhere online from what I've seen! Can't wait!
