Can anyone confirm if these include the 30 day trial period from Ascend? Or is that only if purchased from them directly? Would love to audition them, but nervous that I wont be happy paired with my amp.
Also, has anyone used tube amps with these speakers? I run a Rogue Audio Cronus Magnum 2 (KT-120 power tubes, roughly 100 watts per channel output). I am curious if this would be a good pairing but haven’t been able to find anything online .

CRSandsI think that would be an amazing pairing. Remember tube watts are more then SS watts. So that thing is a beast. Plenty of juice for these. And KT-120 is famous for it's bass. Which would normally be my only concern with small speakers. I think you should do the trial though, if you're worried.

amb3cogwatts = amps*volts... there is no difference in 1 watt from a tube and 1 watt from solid state. The levels of even and odd order harmonic distortion would be the difference.

ElectronicVicesAnd yet play this on the same setup as an AV receiver, and this will be louder and seem more powerful. Which is what matters to people. Not the technical explanation of how power is measured on an amplifier.
But "technically" you are correct sir.

ElectronicVicesSorry. Should have said.
An AV receiver with the same rated power as the tube amp in question.

CRSandsThese speakers are sold to Massdrop, and they are selling them to you. I don't really know what Massdrop's return policy is, but since you are not purchasing them from us, they are not returnable to us. However, they are still fully covered under our warranty.

amb3cogWon't disagree on the AVR front... most of them are not rated 20hz to 20kHz and all channels driven... hell some amps aren't rated that accurately. Just demonstrated that with my buddy who finally went separates... he couldn't believe what a "full bandwidth rated" rating could do vs being rated at 1 channel at 1kHz.

ElectronicVicesExactly. Try a Nelson Pass Class A. Most are only rated at about 25 watts. But they're little beasts. Definitely nothing like a normal 25 watts.

amb3cogClass A brings in a whole new bundle of improvements as well... given my somewhat inefficient speakers the lower powered amps are a bit outside of my use case right now. Wouldn't mind building some full range, high efficiency speakers in the future but I'm gonna need more space for that :)

ElectronicVicesI have a few full range I run open baffle. Highly recommended. Zenith 49cz852 is unreal. You'll think Etta James is in the room with you. The dynamics are unreal. And that's just with them laying on the bed with no baffle. For real! Coral Holey Baskets are great if you don't have much room. I own two pair I like them so much. Very efficient for small speakers, and they actually do a little bass. Can find a pair for $100, and build some small vented cabinets. I assure you. They don't need much power at all. They get loud on my low powered 6L6 SET/SEP (it's switchable) in an open baffle. So ported they should get really loud.
