Is Drop able to offer "mixed" packs? I need the M/L torso length with the S/M hipbelt, and most retailers only offer the standard M/L + M/L and S/M + S/M combinations.
CONeilThanks for giving a reply.
If anyone is interested in doing a belt swap (i.e., I order a M/L torso + M/L waist, you order a S/M torso + S/M waist, and then we swap belts) please post a reply to this message.
Thanks.
I own the pack and love it. It’s very comfortable, handles heavy loads like a champ (if you need to), and it light and simple in the best of ways.
The only thing they need to improve on is pocket materials. All the stretch pockets attached started fraying and breaking after one trip. The belt pockets have an awkward zipper system that doesn’t close all the way with a simple tug.
The back can also use some lash points. I use a bizarre system of doubling the compression straps but really wish I didn’t have to.
Overall this is is a great pack. The lack of waterproof features isn’t an issue for me because I make sure everything going in sits in a waterproof bag. No need to do this twice and add cost weight to the pack.
Love it. Can’t wait for an update.
Small world, I lived in Adelaide from 2010-2014.
It would probably be expensive to ship US to AU and vice versa (and probably very expensive for you to buy from Drop in the first place).
I found some info that the Flex Capacitor line will be updated/expanded for 2020 (https://www.cleverhiker.com/blog/35-new-and-exciting-backpacking-products-at-outdoor-retailer) so I may hold off and see what the options are then. I should probably try to see the packs in person (not easy) before buying as my torso length is right around the dividing line between S/M and M/L. I lean towards M/L because of my build, but should really check first.
Thanks.
ASW21Ha! Adelaide is a nice city. Horrible footy teams though! :) Surprisingly, shipping from Drop is quite reasonable and a lot better than some of the other outdoor gear places in the States.
I actually got some info regarding the updated versions. Apparently, it’s staying fairly similar but a slightly different material that won’t tear as easily. The main difference is that it is coming in a smaller and a larger size - a 25-40 and a 60-80 or something like that. Probably end up with the whole family!!
Made one of the three classic blunders: had an amateur measure my torso size.
Short of it is, I ordered a M/L Pack, but it's definitely too long for my torso. (I've since learned that my betrayer overestimated my torso length by ~2.5"!) I therefore have a sweet, unused Flex Capacitor available in size M/L, for trade for a S/M. Maybe you can help? Give me a shout if so.
(Needless to say, after having the pack in my hands, I definitely like it and want to use it.)
Thank you all for you interest in this drop! We were able to reserve a few more units on some sold out sizes, and extended the drop a day to allow a few more of you to grab this awesome pack :)
