Is this the same stand that's available on Amazon Prime for $44.75? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00F2L1NOO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

yorktronicNo, the one on Amazon is a (very) cheaply made Chinese knockoff product, the same one on EBay. I have one of those, and it arrived without package protection, damaged with a nasty dent, and it is made from obvious layers of plywood with a cheap veneer top. It also needs foam pads in order to sit "level" on a surface. There are reports of them using wood filler glue and a chemical finish with high off-gassing as well. It's also not available in the nicer hardwoods, and whatever finish they did use does not look that good, it causes what little wood they use to have a very muted/bland look, what you might expect from a Walmart or Target "wooden" office product.
But, if you don't care about how it looks, how it smells, the solid wood, unique exotic veneers, the quality, the felt protective sleeve, getting an undamaged product, etc, and you just want a headphone stand for a pair of mediocre headphones, then it's probably not worth getting the original German-made Sieveking product. Not trying to be condescending, just want you to understand from my experience what you are getting.

GyokuI purchased the one off of Amazon and literally has none of the issues you have stated. Maybe the eBay knock offs are like that but mine came in a cloth bag, sits even, has no smell, no glue marks or seams and looks on pair with others. These offer different looking wood types but outside that they seem the same.

A7XTANGthe only thing thats cheap about it is the price - i had no issues whatsoever - http://www.amazon.com/Wooden-Omega-Headphones-Hanger-Holder/dp/B00F2L1NOO/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1435197561&sr=8-2&keywords=headphone+stand - this is the one that i purchased - came with a nice storage bag and looks great,.. purchased a 2nd one when i saw it - I'm also very OCD about quality

GyokuThis was condescending, and the product I got didn't smell, wasn't dented, does sit level on my my desk, and holds my Final Audio Pandora Hope VI headphones just fine.
A7XTANGthanks for the info but I own two already and have for months. nothing wrong with them.

GyokuBlatant damage control to justify overspending on formed plywood. Spectacular, almost feels like a discussion about audiophile cables.
For the record the 'knockoffs' are completely fine

awakeningosirisI picked up one of these amazon ones too. The only thing I would say is that the picture on Amazon is a bit misleading. It doesn't come as dark as it shows. The grain matches close to the middle one pictured above (no other grain is available). It sits flat on the desk, but the foam pads are not located in a place where they actually work, so it could scratch some softer surfaces. Also, the Amazon "knockoff" is a bit jagged in the bends, they appear to be much smoother/fluid in this one. The feet on the amazon one seem to be a bit narrower than this one. So with all of that, you make the choice. I would say that for $139 you are getting a superior product, if the aesthetics are worth $100 to you, then something like this is what you are looking for. If you just want something pretty and functional, but not the "nicest possible" then a product like the link provided is what you're looking for. The choice is yours.

ArcaneOracleHi. Wood is never as dark as the photo. You have to let it live for a few years somewhere where it will get light and the colour will change 100%. If it's natural wood that is. My furniture went from a dull faded colour to a beautiful redish orange colour my shock was when i moved the speaker; It was still as the faded original colour ... so rotate it.
