KnajDo like me, buy a banana hook, it cost max 10$ and you get a nice stand for way less that this one. I agree, too expensive.

Sheesh. This particular discussion have been nothing but fools criticizing, condemning and complaining about something they have no knowledge about. What is it about this product that has been so polarizing?
As I have said before, I really hope non of ya'll own or drive any luxury products to boldly makes those "too expensive" claims. Humans.

LxJLthrToo expensive considering for the value the product is bringing to the table. The Noble Savant I'm wearing now cost $800, but I'm getting much more use and enjoyment out of it than my Titan 3 I also have on hand. I personally wouldn't spend that much (as I got it via review), but I see why someone else would.
Buying something for quadruple the price because the specs say it's good is absolute crap reasoning. Besides for the flaky argument of "smell", I doubt you'd really know the difference between this one and a fake one in regular use - definitely not after weeks and months of using it.
It has the same function. It performs that function well. There is no value to be had from a piece of wood the costs $140, when a $30 replacement can do the same exact job - much less justify the cost. There. Is. No. Damn. Reason to buy this headphone stand.
But then again, these are the people who would throw their money at a headphone stand for $100 more instead of giving it to charity, so who am I kidding?

avitron142See what you did there? You subjectively rationalized the "value" of $800 IEMs as absolutely "worth it" and marginalized a premium headstand because it has no perceived value you.
Obviously you were willing to understand (or just buy into the hype) of craftsmanship, production hours and engineering behind those IEMs...yet fail to see past Home Depot's equivalent lumber value for the stand. And I also doubt that you will know the difference between your IEMs and a much lesser costing set in a double blind comparison, but I don't care because whatever floats your boat (IB4 "golden ears" rebuttal).
This website sells $130 white sneakers, $500 pens, $1,400 DACs, $2,500 MP3 players without any issues or much complaining...yet people completely loose their marbles and get out pitchforks and torches over a $130 German handmade wooden headstand.
Like I said. Humans. Fascinating. LOL

LxJLthrYou totally missed the boat. If there's any foreseen extra value in the item, an argument can be made that it is "worth it". You better bet a $800 IEM functions better than a $20 one.
By a $140 stand, there is absolutely NO extra value when it comes to function. Therefore, I can't see how someone would even argue that it's worth the price.
Subjective my arse. THAT was a rational argument. Not only did I not say the $800 was "absolutely worth it", I even said I wouldn't buy it myself.
I swear, it's like talking to a wall sometimes. I guess that's what I get for talking to someone who always mutters "humans."
Edit: I'm a freakin' reviewer. You better bet I can tell the difference in a double blind comparison, because that's what I do for my job - when testing not only headphones, but sources and amps as well.

avitron142I shall try one more time because this is more exciting than my current conference call…
My “boat” was that how *you* define form and function will always be different from *others* around you. Who are you to judge what is considered aesthetically functional by someone else? Or why does it bother you so much?
Using your “absolutely NO extra value” logic…I presume all of your family photos and artwork are hung using Scotch tape or $0.99 Wal-Mart frames? Better yet, if you are married (or plan to be), you proposed with a Cracker Jack box ring because *functionally* it indicates exactly the same intent of love and commitment as a $6,000 diamond ring?
Edit: I have not missed any boats, comrade. Humans are rationalizing creatures. We explain away whatever our chosen point of view and what we deem important ;) And don’t worry; I know exactly the “talking to a wall” feeling from corporate change management.

LxJLthr"Aesthetically functional" lmao, I wasn't aware there was such a thing. The 'function' is to hold the headphone - I wouldn't spend $140 on a picture frame either, and if wal-mart frames looked the same as more expensive ones, than sure, I'd use it. You'd be surprised how many people in my community use scotch tape on their cars, they really couldn't care less of what people think of them :)
How we "explain our point of view" is usually through logic. I don't pretend to be right when I'm wrong, and I don't use "logic is a human construct" either. In a post-modernist and liberal society such as ours, it's a harder point to get across though.
The ring is an excellent point, actually. As a teen, I have a bit of time for that, but I never understood why spending money at a seemingly useless item shows commitment; buying a car for your wife is a better way of doing that. However, since it is the norm, and it only happens once in my life, I reluctantly tolerate and abide by it. I don't agree with it though, and these 'luxuries' are usually something that I have no interest in partaking in.
So you're in the business side of things! I thought everyone here was four times my age xD

avitron142Yes. Aesthetically functional. That's the most succinct way I can verbalize my thought right now LOL At it is core, a headphone's function is to (re)produce sound. By that definition stock Apple buds accomplish it in the exact same manner as an $800 set. However, the desired "aesthetic" sound signature (ex. technical vs musical) will vary with each user. And I am sorry, my vocabulary is failing me this late in the day LOL
Same with the headstand, at it is core the Amazon Omega knockoff serves exactly same function of holding the headphone. But this one will have nicer fit and finish, last longer, fit better into home decor, and overall more aesthetically appealing/pleasing...which again will be defined by each user.
Personally, I consider even the Amazon knock offs to expensive and use a combination of Lowe's tool hanger thingies and Target TMNT piggy banks ($3.99 on clearance) to hold my headphones for which I get constant flak from everyone (including my g/f) as it clashes with everything , but it is a solution that works and I don't consider it important enough to care further LOL
And absolutely agree with your 3rd paragraph :) I subscribe to the same mentality as much as possible. And what is logic a construct off, if you do not mind me asking?

LxJLthrWe use logic to show we're right. Smart alecks in the last few decades shrug off logic by saying we developed logic, hence it is not more "right" than anything else. It's only in today's day and age that someone could say that logic isn't a way to find what's right and wrong - especially since "right" and "wrong" were always only in terms of logic anyway.
