Hi! I have had this (canon version) lens for a few months now, I use it on an a6000 with the MC-11 converter. It's a beast of a lens, feel free to ask me any questions.

hby123The lens is basically designed for that. I haven't done a lot of sports photography unfortunately, but birds in flight and especially airplanes, it will grab focus very quickly. Its fairly binary as well, when it comes to moving objects. It's either perfect, or nothing is in focus, but not usually the latter, luckily. The further and more isolated your subject is, the better. It's notable that this lens is stabilized internally, and has a stabilization mode specifically for "panning" with the lens, as you would if you were tracking a subject in motion.
