I have the same question about U.S. warranty or if gray market. Sigma USA requires it come from an authorized Sigma dealer and have a receipt from that dealer.

JaySCTFor this drop this is not an International Spec product, it is being purchased from an authorized dealer and you will have no problems with registering your warranty.

JaysunJaySun.. Thank you. Does that also mean we would receive a receipt from whomever that dealer is? Both are required for Sigma Service. Thanks in advance.

JaySCTWe are purchasing from an authorized dealer and if you should have any warranty issues they will stand behind it and Massdrop will facilitate a resolution. The invoice will be from Massdrop.

JaysunJaySun... Not quite sure why we're dancing around the question. It is pretty straight forward yes or no. I cannot help what Sigma requires. They require two things.. first, an authorized dealer, and second a copy of (or the actual) receipt from the dealer for their service warranty to be accepted should an item need it. Dealers like B&H, Adorama, etc. don't handle service claims past say the first 30 days. It then reverts to the owner and Sigma. What you are describing (coming back through Massdrop) sounds more like how gray market watches are handled. They are the same exact item, but you can't go directly to the manufacturer for warranty. I'm really not trying to pin you in a corner, but for something like this, it is a very valid and quite important answer and distinction regarding warranty.

JaySCTMassdrop is a unique platform with a different approach to leveraging the power of group buys.
What would be great here is if we can get a member who has had an issue with the Sigma warranty to chime in but I have yet to encounter one.
I see that you are fairly new to Massdrop and this being such a high priced item you are not being unreasonable but if Sigma requires you to have " two things.. first, an authorized dealer, and second a copy of (or the actual) receipt from the dealer for their service warranty to be accepted should an item need it ..." as you stated then I can say that the invoice will be from Massdrop who purchased it from an authorized dealer.

JaysunJaySun, and having worked with Sigma reps and Corporate, invoices from intermediaries are not normally acceptable for U.S. type covered service repairs in the event it would need it. This does not lessen the quality of the lens by any means and the operation would be that of very successful watch sites whom take on the responsibility for the buyer should service be required rather than the buyer dealing directly with the manufacturer. If are able to find out something different, please let me (us) know.

JaysunJaySun, Sorry, I'm still not 100% on this point. In the item's description you say it will be shipped by the vendor. Who is the vendor? Is it the authorized dealer or is it Massdrop. I ask because you also said the receipt will be from Massdrop, which started the whole discussion about any warranty support from Sigma being out of the question. Again they require it be both an authorized dealer (Which you're saying it is), but also a receipt from the authorized dealer (which you indicated it wasn't).

JaysunJaySun... I'm sorry we have to keep going back and forth on these responses, but I do feel it's important that the terms of these purchases are understood. The products are the actual products, they're not refurbs, returns, etc. and I'm sure that you're offering new items. Likewise you may very well be getting them from authorized dealers, be that Canon, Sigma, Nikon, etc. In some case the actual vendor sales (with rebates, etc.) or dealer sales come very close to these prices, in other case perhaps not.
The underlying issue is still that (and I can only speak for Canon and Sigma), without BOTH it being an authorized dealer AND that dealer's receipt, both those vendors (for warranty purposes) will consider it used. You may very well be able to act as a go between for a customer, but that would mean the customer returning it to you, you returning of somehow working with the dealer and it basically means the buyer had no direct communication with the manufacturer. If people are happy with that arrangement then if it makes sense (cost wise) to get it here that is their decision. If for warranty, support and service directly with Canon, Sigma, etc. is important then unless you start providing the authorized dealer's receipt, that door is closed to the buyer..

JaysunNot sure how you are going to step in. At best the lens will be considered used and no warranty. Worst case it is grey market and all repairs will be a minimum $250 and mount conversion will not be available. Without a receipt from an authorized dealer there is no warranty. If Massdrop buys and resells the lenses, they are considered used and no warranty. Greentoe just matches buyers and sellers so the warranty is still good.

biogonYou're welcome. Just want to make sure that things are clear about support options and that as a buyer we're all informed. Appreciate JaySun endorsing my reply.
