Well, 28 hours later. I stuck it. Twice actually, five minutes ago I had to torque on it pretty hard. It's seized right now again though. I'd be interested to know others experiences on this front, is it possible they didn't coat this batch properly? There is a lot of caked build up around the outside already, and it's not like I'm a fiend either.

ALalondeI too have that problem, I think I caused it by holding the grinder upside down for a finer grind and some pollen got between the parts of the rim and is catching. There is no coating on this part so it would still get stuff stuck in it
I'm going to try cleaning it with iso and then being more careful

DuckonquackThat is exactly what is happening. Though it seems to happen upside down or not, definitely more so upside down than upwards though. It seems short sighted to me since every buster I've ever jammed up has always been due to caking around the outer lip and inner top, not the teeth itself. I've never found a metal grinder with teeth so feeble they couldn't cut through even the stickiest of flowers, from the cheapest of variety store ones to Sharpstones the only reason it's bound up is around those edges. Every portion where the top two pieces meet should be coated on these, it would make a world of difference. That said, the customer service I've received from SLXGrinders and Rick has been wonderful (I'll email you pics Rick, I'll post them here too) and very prompt. I received my replacement top and in shiny red, it's very obvious that only the teeth are coated -I should have picked up on that looking at the description pictures initially to be honest. The red replacement one has the same burring on the white plastic ring as my original black one, however it's much less than the black one. There is a small chip in the lower half of the top too where the tops meet, possible machining error since it's painted over in red. But again, these two things in no way take away from the function and are a lil nitpicky. At MSRP I would be pretty displeased over all, as this buster has definitely caked up around the edges much faster than any one I've bought prior. The teeth though, are only ever covered in a dusting that is easily brushed away, or blown by a light breeze. I feel I got what I paid for, it's a wonderful $40 buster, especially in black and red two tone, but any more and I'd be pretty miffed.
Here's some pics from my phone. It's an HTC M7 that suffers from the purple/red wash problem in low light but I think it did well enough for this. Here's caking the night of the 11th:

The black one binds with every use since my first post about it seizing up.

ALalondeYa I was concerned this would happen and it did. Overall I would say it does slightly better than a normal metal grinder, but not a heck of a lot, definitely not worth full price, but at this discount its just OK.
Material finds its way between the outer lip of the bottom piece and the inner lip of the top piece. There is no avoiding it, this was my main issue with my original normal grinder which is why it was foremost on my mind when purchasing this grinder. Whoever designed this clearly does not smoke weed because everyone here knows that's where grinders get stuck. I don't turn my grinder upside down or anything funny. I load the bottom piece up, place the lid on top, push down and twist. I will hold it sideways as I grind because that is a natural position for a humans hands (fingertips toward each other aligned horizontally) so any testing should have considered that as a typical grinding grip. Coating the inside make little difference. Toward the middle of the grinder you have a lot more leverage, but when it gets stuck around the edges, it takes a lot more strength to overcome it, this is where nonstick effort should have been focused.

gnomedHello gnomed, ALalonde and Duckonquack,
First let me say that unless you are cleaning the grinder completely free of any pollen or material iso tends to make the pollen even stickier than it was. That being said I have had excellent results with just a dab of olive oil rubbed along the outside edge of the top and bottom pieces. This is just a recommendation but one that has worked for me.
Second, Thank you all for giving such great feedback in order to make a great product even better. It is this type of communication that empowers our community. SLXGrindersThanks for the reply, I do agree it is an improvement, although not quite vast. My last grinder was the same design but without the coating. It was a cheap no-name stainless steel grinder, but I've had it for 7 years believe it or not. I was just hoping for more of an improvement when upgrading from a 7 year old grinder. Persevering with the SLX rather than cleaning when it gets stuck seems to have "unstuck" things ever so slightly. This is similar to my old grinder though, so it will probably just get stuck again like my old grinder. It will be hard to give a true comparison for another 7 years ;)
As long as I have your attention, how about fixing the marketing materials for the grinders (per the third comment on page 1 of this discussion)?

gnomedHey gnomed,
I'm glad to see you upgraded. There is a considerable difference between stainless steel and the aircraft grade 7075 aluminum that SLX uses.
Thanks for sharing,
