FYI - the upper and lower lips are NOT coated with ceramic. You will get build up if you angle the grinder while shredding. I have the two-stage version of this and it actually looks like there's less coating on the 3 stage.

azevedojHi azevedoj,
Let me try to address some of your concerns:
1. It is physically impossible to coat a grinder with a non-stick material and also a decorative anodized coating, other than the way it is done in SLX grinders. Believe me, we tried. The ceramic coating fuses at 600º F. Anodizing breaks down at about 300º F so, if the parts were anodized first, then masked and ceramic coated, the protective anodizing would be burned. Therefore, we coat the teeth plates separately and assemble them with the anodized parts. (Trying to coat first and then anodizing is obviously a non-starter if you think about it.)
It’s not a compromise or an attempt to save money, it’s simply the only solution to the problem. A couple of grinder manufacturers have attempted to do what SLX does and, as one of the largest manufacturers said to us a year ago, “We gave up because it was too difficult.” I can attest that is is very difficult because SLX has one of the most complex manufacturing processes in the grinder business. Our suppliers voice their concerns to us about the difficulties all the time!
As I'm sure you're aware, the outer lip of the 2nd stage bottom section of the 206 model that you own is coated with ceramic because there is no anodizing on that part.
2. Some users brush the inner lip of the top from time to time if they’re noticing some build up. We have also found that product which is not properly dried may show some accumulation.
3. The coating thickness on the teeth plates of all SLX grinders is incredibly thin and is identical in both the 206 and 303 models. (And, no, a thicker coating would have no benefit.)
The vast majority of SLX users are completely happy with their grinders. Here’s an unsolicited comment that came to us just yesterday. “Message: Just wanted to say the SLX 303 is amazing. Ive had it for 4 months now and I cant believe it still functions in perfect form. Not to mention it looks damn good. I hope you guys are killing it!”
If you're really not happy with the 206 you purchased two months ago, PM us at http://www.slxherbgrinders.com/contact/ and we will happily replace it or refund your purchase price. We only want happy customers.
Best regards,
Rick SLX Team

SLXGrindersI prefer function over form, and anodizing a piece of metal no one really sees over coating it with ceramic doesn't make sense to me. I'm not the only one who feels that way, as you can see from the comments on both drops. I am happy with my grinder, just simply wanted to say that it does stick from time to time.

SLXGrindersHave to say not everyone strictly prefers function over form and SLX can't cater for everyone. If they didn't coat that part of the metal with ceramic, I bet someone is going to complain about how the colouring/physical appearance of the grinder is not good when they opened it up.
