Using the headphone out of my smart TV (Sony Bravia) into the Aux input, I get a high-frequency squeal. It's very noticeable at volume 20+, so it's not really usable if I want to use the volume control in the TV. Does anyone know what might cause that, or how to fix it? As soon as I unplug the 3.5mm cable from the TV the squeal stops (it's still plugged in to the amp), so it's not that the cable is acting as an antenna. Using that same headphone out from the TV into line-in to a "regular" amplifier is fine, no squeal.
And since SMSL doesn't use standard IR remote codes, I would need a learning remote to use the volume control in the SMSL (with toslink from the TV, which does work).
Another note/complaint about non-standard remote behavior is that it's not simple (maybe not possible) to use a programmable remote to change to a specific input. The included remote cycles through the inputs, which isn't helpful. I haven't tried this idea, but with a macro programmed in the remote it might work to click the center button (of the SMSL remote), then click right (or left) 7 or 8 times to be sure it's at the start or end, then click left (or right) the correct number of times to set the desired input.
