Well, i got mine a while back. Tested that it turned on and off twice went through the menus and put it back into the box and looked to purchase speakers. Life happened and I finally got two sets of speakers, took it out and the screen is all white. I followed instructions carefully in that I plugged everything in first before turning it on at the wall. After the white screen only after several on/off's I followed the instructions to reset the device and I got a gobbledygook screen (see images below). Interestingly, Massdrop help has not pointed me in the direction of the manufacturers site so I can get it repaired as I asked (I'll happily pay). Anyone else had this issue? I have not seen any physical faults in forums anywhere so I guess I'm the lucky one... . Any advice gratefully accepted.
lionbestIt could be worth emailing kelly@smsl-audio.com from www.smsl-audio.com/ but I got no response. This, even when I said I just wanted it repaired. However, I had mine (though unused for months til I got speakers) so you may have better luck.
zlaggyI did get in touch with the SMSL team and they offered to repair it. I had to send it to China and then also pay for the shipping back, in total some 50 usd.
When I got it back, it had the same issue but only briefly, then it started working. Works ever since.
Also, to not, mine had the issue on the screen, but I was still able to listen to music on it if I could guess the menus.
lion_staThanks for the reply & advice. I think I'll ask locally and see if it's a bad solder connection or something. I might buy a new one and keep this for parts if not. I don't see a lot of bad reviews on it so maybe we were unlucky. I really wanted this to work. It's such a feature full option.
lionbestYes, but it's a nightmare figuring out where in the menu I am. I used it at a friends birthday party and took forever to get the bluetooth connected. I suspect a sound filter option was on because it sounded too bright.
