Hey guys, quick question, should i go for this one or for the Sabaj Da3? i would be using the HD 6XX. Thanks a bunch!
Edit: and what about the Topping NX2S?
J2xWSave your money and buy a slightly better amp none of the two you mentioned will come near to drawing out the hd6xx potential. It will probably work but yeah. An amp is something you will have for 1 year or more better to just buy something proper instead if listening to poop for an entire year. Go for the schiit m&m stack for 198$ instead it will be more worth it in the long run. Too bad you missed the darkvoice drop that was also 199$ that would have been the bomb for you.
Farkothanks for the reply! yea i heard the darkvoice is pretty great for these headphones
what would you suggest me for "portable" use tho(thats why i wanted to get these)?
i travel twice a month and stay there for a few days at most so i cant always bring amps with me(dont have a pc there either)
is there something you can suggest me?
J2xWDo you have a lightning cable port as charger for your phone? Then it might not work with this amp
(
) because I have no idea how it connects but it is a great amp/DAC and it would work great with he hd6xx and costs 149$ on Amazon. You should do a bit more research if you have a USB type c charging port and see if it's still compatible but otherwise a great portable amp in that price range.
J2xW another good review. And also I checked a bit and smsl dia seems to work with the hd6xx how good I don't know. Found a review where he has a hd6xx also and gives a head up on the audio quality and says it's good for him and that it definitely can drive them. I know the hd6xx are scaling headphones that just keep scaling the better gear you have so I doubt these ones at 89$ are as good as he says compared to other more expensive options. Also the one I linked has a bit more features but it's all up to you if you value the differences and so on and if it's even compatible from the start.
J2xWYou could get a Fiio Q1 Mk II DAC/amp for the same price as the Sabaj DA3. The size and shape of it is better for carrying around than the DA3, it has more power, and it has its own battery. The DA3 would draw its power from your phone battery.
FarkoHey, I'm just looking to get your opinion, so I just ordered the ue900s, and I'm wondering if I should get a portable DAC/amp as my use will be solely on my phone, I have a axon ZTE 7 and the onboard DAC amp is regarded as really good, should I go with the smls, topping, or buy something completely different? Thanks
Mzhawk9I don't know much about portable Amp/dacs I only know of the fiio ones wich are supposed to be good. I have a colleague at work that is currently using one of fiios amp/DAC not a portable one though it's as big as a brick but thinner. He uses in ears and I asked him if it makes a different on low impedens in ears when using an amp dac and he said that its like night and day. So yeah I'd definitely recommend a dedicated amp dac.
DarrylGInteresting, must be pretty new, as it doesn't appear to be available to purchase from SMSL's own site let alone anywhere else.
Too bad the input is Micro-USB instead of USB A or USB C though. The specs also don't indicate if the IQ has a gain boost. Doesn't really seem to be feature comparable to the FiiO E17K.
FarkoEven when a DAC isn't completely necessary just to power a pair of <=32 ohm headphones, it's easy to appreciate the finer volume control -- especially when you aren't in a particularly noisy environment.
You can even notice a distinctive sound difference with a cheap (extremely overpriced) XQ-10 amp that only has an analog aux-input.
