Anybody know if this has the same issues with Android that the SMSL IDEA has?

mksurfin7According to the product page: http://www.smsl-audio.com/productshow.asp?id=142 ...it has a "Built-in USB 1.1 no drive mode". I guess that means it can be switched from USB 2.0 to 1.1 if it has the buzzing problem with an Android device. That's certainly better than having to downgrade it to 1.1 permanently through firmware, but I assume it still limits the sampling rate to 192kHz.

DarrylGThanks for the follow-up. Tough choice... I bought and returned a Sabaj DA-2 which is more or less the same as the IDEA. I absolutely loved the sound when it worked. I assume it's that the Sabre 9018 really worked for me. Unfortunately it required a weird sequence of plugging it in and pressing play at the right moment or it would cut out, and then it would often happen anyway. I don't know if I would risk buying through Massdrop because Amazon's return policy bailed me out last time.

DarrylGIs it a guarantee that the "Built-in USB 1.1 no drive mode" - will fix any issues with noise? Besides an unknown HW implementation, specs look pretty good.
Just wondering if it's quite common for Android based USB audio to have issues with noise/connection?
I have a XIAOMI phone which has automatic USB audio routing - but compatibility is always ??? Seems you need 2.0 firmware to have it "work with some Android devices." works with all iOS , but Android needs a known compatibility listing.
Worse case fallback i can get a male type C to male 3.5mm cable ;-;

inifistI've used the following with SMSL AD18, FiiO E17K, Signstek USB Dac Android 5.1 | Moto X, Moto X-Force, Xiaomi Redmi 3s , Android 6.0/7.0 | Nexus 5x, Nexus 6, Moto G5+ Android 8.0 | Moto X4, Pixel XL
The only issues were: 1) Xiaomi 3s, sometimes needed to reboot the phone to get OTG USB Audio out, and OTG broke after the phone got wet. 2) Moto X-Force, similarly sometimes need to reboot the phone to get OTG USB Audio out. 3) Moto X4, OTG USB Audio constantly drains the battery 6%+ per hour -- absolute shit phone for music, and the glass back is bullshit.
I've read sporadic reports on various models of phones (OnePlus, Samsung) that have OTG issues, but it's hard to tell if they were using a proper|decent OTG cable. I think in general most phones support the spec correctly, and buzzing|static usually goes away with a cable replacement.

inifistI don't know, I just quoted what's on the product page. The SMSL Idea I have exhibited the buzzing behavior on an Android tablet and in Linux on a PC.
