I bought one of these for my college student son, it shipped to him, but he can’t get it to work. SMSL website is effectively useless for troubleshooting and the DAC came without a manual. He has a Windows 10 laptop and an iPhone 6, and this DAC isn’t working with either of them. I’m 3,000 miles from the DAC so I do not have tactile possession of the device. Where do we go to figure this out?

dpj1I just saw your comment and I have some light to shed on it if it's still a problem for you. This specific model (I also had one at some point) has some quirks with drivers, took me also some time to figure it out, I'll dig it up from storage and try a few things and let you know, but for now as far as I remember I completely removed the SMSL driver and let windows use it's own driver instead - anyway, I'll try it out and let you know what works.

talkaplan4474Thx. I read the comments here before purchasing it and people said it works fine with W10, which my son's laptop runs. But it won't work with his iPhone either. We can't figure it out.

dpj1OK, so I connected the M3 to a brand new computer after installing the M3 drivers that SMSL provides on their site and nothing, then I completely removed the drivers from SMSL and just connected the M3 again and let Windows 10 install its own audio drivers, and it worked fine after that, it looks like SMSL drivers are the issue. Hope this helps you, but that is the solution that worked for me. BTW I encountered the exact same issue with the M6 that I also own.

talkaplan4474Thanks for the insight and tips. We never installed the M3 drivers at all, as the SMSL website has no driver to download specifically for the M3. There are drivers for all sorts of other Mproducts, but nothing for the M3. So the presence of M3 drivers should not be our issue.

dpj1I just checked SMSL site and it doesn't show the M3 driver anymore - they probably figured out that this driver was faulty. I'll check out the M3 with another PC with Windows 10 and fiddle with it, maybe I'll have some insight that might help you.
