A compact, fully featured DAC/amp from SMSL, the M9 features a CNC-machined aluminum chassis with a 1.44-inch TFT LCD screen, customizable with your choice of six text colors. And it doesn’t stop there. The internals are equally impressive: an XMOS xCORE-200 USB audio interface, two OPA TPA6120A2 opamps, and two high-quality AKM AK4490EQ DAC chips. If you plan to pair a more powerful amplifier with the M9’s RCA out, these DACs give you a great foundation. The unit provides PCM support up to 32 bit/768 kHz, plus DSD512. Along with the quarter-inch headphone out, the front panel features a 2.5-millimeter balanced out.
