liorvikelNone of SMSL's DACs are MQA certified/compatible as far as I can tell from their website.

liorvikelNo MQA. The cheapest option that I know for an MQA DAC is the IFI nano iDSD Black Label.

liorvikelMeridien explorer 2 has mqa as well for same price, less features than inano. Keep in mind both the inano and explorer 2 have to have the first mqa unfold done on the source computer, then they do the second and or third unfold. Neither is a true “native mqa” dac.

liorvikelMQA is like when apple tried to make firwire connectors a thing. Its just not ever going to take off and get fully supported its going to die no doubt in my mind.

LuckyEightsWhy do you think that? MQA is just a container, it does nothing to the actual audio. The "A" in MQA from my understanding means the source should be an "authentic" master recording. So the quality is derived from the sources quality and mix. The MQA algo just allows the file size to be really small but contain Hi rez data sourced from analog masters. Right?

Lioraclevthe s2 pre has native mqa and dual sabre dacs. It’s a wicked piece of kit, but also twice the price at $400. The cheapest mqa i know of are the explorer 2 and the inano black label. I still have a modi 2 uber. Looking at geshelli enog 2 for the 4493, but will probably wait for the new akm 4499 chip implementations.
