After making a buying decision *because* of an email sent to me from Massdrop telling me shipping was free for the USA, I received the following response to my concern regarding the veracity of their offer. An honorable company would honor their offer. I suspect the company is circling the drain. My confidence in Massdrop has plummeted to zero and I will no longer do business with them. Too bad. Seemed like a cool business model. Mar 4, 2:21 PM PST  Am ordering the Snugpak Jungle Blanket because of the Massdrop email I received (attached below) which indicates Free Shipping to the USA. Upon checking out, it states that there IS a shipping charge. I will go ahead, place the order, and give MassDrop the benefit of the doubt that I will NOT be charged shipping. Thank you, Mark Webb Mar 4, 2:42 PM PST  Hi Mark, Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I am going to make sure this is addressed for future notifications. With that said, there is a shipping charge on this drop. The email you received is not accurate. If there is free shipping this will be stated in the shipping section of the drop page. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance. Thanks and have a great day! Jesse

Followup: After submitting a protest to the denied free shipping and dismissive treatment I received, a superior customer service employee reversed the decision, granting free shipping and restoring good faith. That changed my view of Massdrop’s customer service from negative to positive. 👍

How much is shipping ?
Sduran
Just click "JOIN DROP" and you'll see the shipping costs. You need to confirm the buy another time and can go back again... Probably the shipping costs depend on the destination country.
Sduran
I would need to pay $21.50 to Germany... 😂
I am interested in buy a couple but I wont pay 15 shipping for each. Do you have combined shipping?

i have found in my limited time here that the prices are not usually cheaper, especially when you consider the time to deliver. Also, if things like the snugpak is a discovery to you, then don't go outdoors. I haven't visited MD in months, so I'll make sure to turn off notifications because I no longer care...
LordOpie
I'm actually camped on the beach in southern Thailand RIGHT now, I probably spend much more time outdoors then you, A-hat. Good to hear you'll turn off notifications, no one needs your snide remarks.
what material is it made from???
More of the olive color back in stock!
Postage kills it for me, cheaper to get it direct from England
I don't understand. Do I use it instead of a sleeping bag? On top of a sleeping bag? What exactly? The person in the picture is shown to be wrapped in the blanket like it's a sleeping bag.
Eorlingas
It's meant to be used in warm/hot weather as a sleeping bag replacement. Sure, there are lighter and smaller compressing sleeping bags, but this is $25 and those sleeping bags are 10x the price, at least.
Eorlingas
I use mine in the warmer months as well as a campfire compadre when car camping in the winter months... I get some crap for it but I have no regrets.
Has anyone ever used this as an alternative to a sleeping bag? I'm thinking quilt style on a thermarest mat for some summer backpacking, or even on the PCT. Or is it too heavy/cold?
ggiebelhaus
I have the snugpac traveller same product , it is brilliant you dont get sweaty on summer nights it can be a quilt or bag and it has bug mesh if your cowboy camping and keeps the bugs off you mine is dark red im so tempted to buy an olive one too!
ggiebelhaus
It's awfully heavy for thru-hiking or trying to cover distance. It does compact reasonably well and works down into the 40's IMO as a top quilt. Any more I use it as an extra layer around the campfire and in the car as an emergency item. I replaced it with a 40-degree top quilt from Hammock Gear.
A blanket at 700g is light?
Been looking for something like this for a while
Thoughts on using this as an under-quilt?
One_Eyed_Jackal
Pulled it off in an unexpected cold snap using some tarp clamps and shock cord. Not optimal in this regard without sewing skills.
was going to pull the trigger but for $22 shipping to Australia ...pass.
Trentslaw
I bought it despite shipping to Australia, still couldn't find a comparable price...
I have two of these already. And love them. If you added the XL version I would buy another.
It looks like someone is trying to reinvent the poncho liner.
Mike11C
It's a lot warmer than any poncho liner...and a little bigger too.
Anyone still looking for this item can find it for a comparable or slightly cheaper price on that site named after a river in South America, or the auction site that rhymes with "x-ray." You can also find the exact same item in blue if you search for "Snugpak travel blanket blue." Many sites incorrectly show a Snugpak sleeping bag, but it is the exact same blanket in petrol blue. FYI.
WTH? Yesterday get a reminder thst it’s 2 days til drop ends. 24hrs later it’s closed?
Ldmaster
4 days left ... don't know what deadline you saw?
Ldmaster
It’s active again btw.
How would this go on someone 200cm/6-ft-6 tall?
Massdropbear
your feet will stick out, it's 64x76in. they do make an XL large version that you can find on amazon for the high price of 3$ more than the regular one on massdrop (assuming you're in the USA) that is 90x72in.

Nice product, but shipping costs make the price unattractive.
Lettuce
Ya I agree. When I seen the shipping come through I was thinking of dropping out.
Any chance of the xl version being an option for future drops?
$24.99 is basically a click bait price, s you can purchase the black jungle blanket from Amazon for $30.04 delivered, which is $2 less than the actual delivered price from Massdrop, due to their killer shipping costs.
The green is basically the same price on Amazon with free shipping.
I check every advertised drop now, due to their draconian shipping charges.
Once in a while you run into a drop where there is free shipping, like on gear like socks.
Blanket is amazing, saved my rear on a cold rainy day at son's soccer practice.
I was psyched once I saw the price.... until.....I clicked to buy. (Cue the whaa whaa Fail horn) 7.75$ for shipping.... REALLY?! Walmart.com has this for 34$ with free 2 day delivery to home or store. I now find myself Googling items sold here for a price match.... I'd say 80% of the time, it's cheaper elsewhere, ESPECIALLY where shipping costs are concerned. Cmon Massdrop!
Colinsdad
Agreed!
Aggressive shipping prices are ruining Massdrop for me. My time is more valuable: $2 higher item price w/free two-day shipping (Amazon) vs. better price + ~$8 shipping in a month (Massdrop). Do your own math, but I refuse.
sherlockdo
Agreed!
I got one of these off of Amazon for around this price about a month ago, it's great.
I did not notice, but Amazon also has the black color for $30.04, so if you like the black color, you save almost $3, and you will have it available in less than a week, instead of late March, around a month from now!
Good price, as Walmart, and Amazon are selling for $32.15, and $33.99 respectively.
However, Massdrop ruins a good thing, by literally adding 30% more, or $7.75 for shipping.
The total ends up being $32.74, so very little difference in price.
I can simply order from Walmart, and drive down the street when I am getting fuel, or groceries, and pick it up at Walmart.
Msilverhammer
I'll spend a couple extra dollars if it means I get to remain in civilization.
How would this compare to the down blankets you can find around the same price? I got a down blanket from Costco for 16 on sale and it's fairly warm but I wonder if this synthetic blanket could be better
Buttercookie
I have both the blankets you mentioned. The costco one is warmer but less durable and water resistant. I'd say the main difference is indoor/light usage VS outdoor
