The steel cover on the handle is not particularly rust resistant and it will start to rust just by looking at it the wrong way. This was my first knife back in the day... the assist works great and the locking mechanism is good, but you'll have to wipe the handle down constantly, or protect it with oil and/or wax to avoid rust, especially if you live in humid climates.
