you do no need to carry fuel. Granted there is a smaller version that is a better compairison to this one At 8oz. But at a pound it does not take long on fuel weight savings for this stove to come out ahead.

Titan suggests titanium, but description says it's made of stainless steel... I thought there is a titanium version of this.

P_J_NIn this case, the Titan name merely suggests a large size, like Giant, because the Solo Stove is made in several models that increase in size but they are all made from stainless steel. They don’t currently make any from titanium.

I think I’ll stick to my alcohol stove/windscreen and my Kelly kettle. The kettle is bulky but light and I simply strap it to the outside of my pack or my bike when bikepacking.

AdventureDanI too carry a Kelly kettle. I saw the Kelly when I was attached to Her Majesty's Marines, working with the Scottish Royal Engineers and Special Boat Service. Almost every Marine platoon, especially those with Highlanders in them, carried at least two Kelly Kettles. Even though we were in the field, can't miss tea time. I fell in love with how easy the Kelly Kettle boils water with little fuel. Sitting on my Esbit stove my Kelly Kettle boils water quickly. I also have a MSR tea kettle but don't like it as well as my Kelly. The Solo stoves are nice and I am going to grab one probably tossing it the BOB in my Gagoneer.

A one pound stove doesn't exactly qualify as Ulta light by any stretch of the imagination. My homemade alcohol stove, stand and windscreen weighs in at 1.1 oz..... that's ultra light!

Hiker5.11You're right, this would be a better fit in Outdoors, not Ultralight.

How does this save weight compared to a canister and pocket rocket, or an alcohol stove? Is it comparable?

There is some truth in that. I burn an average of 1.25 oz of alcohol per day. With the weight of my stove plus fuel, anything over 12 days between resupply and the wood stove wins. Unless one is above treeline of course.

Hiker5.11with 2 or three people there's a lot of truth in that.
It's time consuming compared to other stoves. Except maybe alcohol stoves ;)
