Lenses are generally tuned for the type of sensor they are expected to be paired with. A lens meant for full-frame sensors will very rarely produce tack sharp results on a crop sensor. Some lenses will do better than others, and I'm not sure if this might be one of them; but generally speaking, it rarely works out well if you try to mix and match, even though both types of lenses use the same mounting system.
