This is a good camera but outdated by a generation. I would put it at $300 for a "good" price. The lens isn't bad for a bundle lens but I wouldn't value it beyond $50 myself so this drop isn't close enough.

CommentatusMaximusI would mostly agree, but with a heavily qualified footnote. Basically, if somebody really wants to get into a Sony mirrorless at this time of the year (I'll explain that in a moment) and either requires the 180-degree tilt screen or their budget limitations completely block the significantly better a6000, then this might be the only option. However, for anybody with the option to wait, I would hold out for Black Friday. Sony is very likely to give the a6000 away for very nearly the same price.

CodyToombsI have the A7s and love it! Wouldn't mind having another E-mount camera to have around as a back-up using the same lenses. The A6000 is a very good camera but I'm limiting the budget to $300 as that's the value of having a back-up is to me. I would be surprised if the A6000 hits that level so soon.

CommentatusMaximusI double-checked the deals from last Black Friday. The a6000 sold without lenses for $398 (from $548) and $548 with 16-50 kit lens (from $698). I bought a bundle that included the 16-50 kit lens and 55-210mm. I haven't been very happy with either lens, so I tend to advise people to get the body by itself and shop for different lenses. Sony makes great glass, but I feel like those two were only meant to fill space in the retail boxes. I'll keep the 16-50 because it's so super compact and takes no space, but I'm selling the 55-210 and replacing it with an 18-200.
That's certainly still above your self-imposed budget, but nobody is selling an unused e-mount camera at $300 yet. A few rumor sites have said Sony will drop $250 off the price of the body this BF, but with a little more than four months left until the end of November, I'm skeptical about that claim. However, I would believe it after speaking with a couple of Sony reps at CES. They very freely admitted they wanted to push bodies (especially the a6000 since it had so many fans) because it would drive up sales for their lenses.

CodyToombsI agree, those lenses are typical bundle lenses, not very good. I'll keep my fingers crossed for a good BF body only sale!
