I hate to be the guy to say it, but the better successor to these are only $298 on Amazon, Crutchfield, etc.

MDR-1000XM2 were $200 just yesterday at
Rakuten.com
...
This is probably some pricing mistake on the part of MD team ... MDR-1000X should be no more than $150-$170 on group buy.
