I have these in black. Excellent phones that produce an energetic slight V sound, meaning elevated but controlled bass and sparkly highs. The mids are not pushed backed or muffled but they are not as pronounced as the lows and highs. Great for many music genres specially ones that give you an energy boost but also amazing in movies/games, the sound will make you feel enveloped into whatever you're watching. These sound best when using the BT, cabled they are only so-so and really meant to be driven by the onboard amp paired with the bluetooth connection.
I also have the MDR1000X and those are more warm sounding with a more laid back sound. The 100ABN has a grade below NC over the 1000X, which IMO has surpassed even Bose in NC capabilities.
For $169 and portability, use, etc these are an EXCELLENT deal. If you don't like "colorful" get the v. blue ones, they're the quietest of the bunch in terms of color.

andrewebay1Have you heard the mdr1a? And if so, will you please post a few comparisons to the 1000x and 100anb?

theonetubyI've never heard it but there is a comparison with the h.ear on and the mdr1a floating the net/google. The h.ear on is the wired version of the mdr100abn.
From memory it says the h.ear on was a natural progression of the mdr1a.
