This might be the iPod Classic replacement that so many people (including myself) have been looking for. The reviewer from gigaom says the sound quality is only slightly lower than the Fiio X5. With 64GB of on board memory AND an SD slot, storage capability is very impressive. The battery can last up to 30 hours playing HD Audio and up to 50 hours playing MP3s... That's incredible in my opinion. May need to upgrade my Sanza Clip+...

Mr_SteenkyThat's exactly what I need. The iPod Classics were built sturdy, but mines at 7 years old is literally about to fail (hard drive, and the battery is become a brick) and I'd rather have another MP3 player because of how slow it is. If Apple didn't discontinue the Classic, I'd be rocking a new one right now, but apparently they didn't see the market in them. I just need something to connect to my car's built in system, it works so well with my Classic, but I do NOT want to buy any of the other iPod models that Apple makes. Is there any way to connect this Sony Walkman to my car system if my car only has an iPod 30 pin cable connector (I think that's right)? Also, does this have Solid State memory built in? Cause that would be fantastic over a crappy hard drive.

AElric22+1 My original ipod video 5th gen is still 'working' but the battery barely lasts 2 hours, and it has heaps of dead pixels but for soemthing thats 10 years old is impressive. Compare that to 3 ipod touches ive had that have died from various faults and ive all but given up on them. I just use a micro SD in my phone now.

JoelFYeah, they last but they degrad like crap. I just want something to plug into my car now. My phone is on the go music, and MP3 player is for the car.

AElric22It's fairly simple to replace the batteries on the old iPods. In addition I know there are mods so that you can replace the HDD with flash storage in the form of SD cards and USB drives, with take some research, but it's definitely doable.

QuickLimeOh yeah I know about that. I've been to iFixit. I just would want something more reliable at this point that I don't have to mod intensively. And we all know how 'mod friendly' every product Apple makes is right? I'd rather mod it after I buy a new MP3 player, that way even if I eternally mess the iPod up, it's not my only choice.

AElric22You can retro fix them with new battery's and hdd.. to the point even a sd card and get even more play back time.

My iPod classic was stolen 2 weeks after Apple (didn't) announce that they were discontinuing the product. This is exactly what I need to replace my Sansa Clip+
