Wonderful deal, but how will this lens work when paired with a full frame E-mount sensor like the A7ii's? I love that Massdrop is showing the E-mount some love, though.

DavidSHovThe lens will work in cropped mode on the full frame Sonys. Lens IQ should be more or less the same but the quality of the image should be better due to the higher pixel count across the apsc portion of the full frame sensor.

This is completely untrue. The A7ii has a 24MP sensor, as do the a6500/6300/6000/5100. Sony uses an APSC crop factor of 1.5, which means that in crop mode, you divide the horizontal and vertical pixel counts by 1.5 on the full-frame sensor. That means that you have an image size of 2667x4000 pixels instead of 4000x6000 - that's a 10MP image. The pixels are *larger*, so they'll collect more light and have better low-light performance, but it will be a lower-resolution image than the native APSC camera.

DavidSHovI've used this lens with my Sony A7s II and have had good results (considering the very low price point and the fact that this is not a full-frame lens). It will mount to that body (as should anything "E-Mount") and auto-focus and electronic aperture control should work OK. If you use it with that camera in normal (i.e. full frame) modes, you will see large dark areas around the borders (especially at greater magnification values on the lens). However, with the A7s II (and probably many other models in the range), you can accommodate for this by enabling "APS-C/Super 35 mm" mode or by simply increasing the camera's internal digital zoom value from 1.0x up to 1.5x or 1.6x.
