I've been a Snow Peak Gigapower user for a long time and recently grabbed the SOTO Windmaster during a prior drop. This stove is great. I haven't done a time test yet; but it boiled water much faster than the Gigapower. A Vargo BOT sitting on top of the standard three-pronged stand seems like it's a little tall and top heavy; but it is stable enough. The stove doesn't pack down as compact as a Gigapower. Those are about the only negative things I have to say about the WindMaster. I've used it maybe a dozen times to boil water for food and coffee and it's a great stove. I'd give it 9/10 stars. If it was a little shorter when mounted to a canister and if the burner screwed off for more compact storage, it would be perfect.

ckyleThank you so much for that review. I've owned a Snow Peak Gigapower for 16 years and used it many hundreds of times, so your comments are most appreciated. What I mostly don't like about the Gigapower is it's poor ability to simmer. Wide open it's OK, but if I try to turn it down to a proper simmer it usually flames out. The flame on the Gigapower is also highly susceptible to even light winds, and I'm hoping that this is another area that the Soto stove will prove to be superior. I look forward to using my Soto and likely selling the well used Gigapower.

zippledippledooYes, I always used a tin foil wind screen with the Gigapower or it would take like 5 minutes to boil water. The Windmaster boils water without a windscreen very quickly. It may require some experimenting with windscreens because it's so tall, though.

ckyleDoes it fit well inside a full size BOT, and with how large a canister?

scopeI have the shorter BOT and the stove, canister, either 3 or 4 leg pot stand and folding spork fit inside. I wouldn't say the stove fits well. If the burner venturi thing unscrewed, it would fit much better; but it's so tall that the stove has to lay on its side. I place the stove, stand and spork in first, then place the canister upright on top of it; else the lid doesn't screw down. It helps to shove a partial wash cloth in there too, to keep the rattling down.

ckyleI forgot, 100 or 110 MSR canisters is what I typically use.
