I am writing this review as i am listening to the headphones to give an account of how they actually perform. The build quality and the headphone bag included are pretty good but what matters most is the sound quality. Now these headphones are offered as an open back headphones and to be honest - it is not. The design sure looks open back but when you listen to the soundstage, it quite compressed like a closed back headphone. These pair of headphones are neither monitor headphones if you are looking for one - the sound is pretty coloured on the warm side with lots of bass. The problem with this headphones is the balance of the sound it reproduces. The bass is strong drowning the trebles and the vocals overpower everything else but the worst part is that the high frequency trebles are sharp and high pitched rather than controlled and this can cause discomfort especially for tracks with shimmering sounds.
I bought this headphone after reading few reviews that they sound like the Sennheiser HD 650 with the same frequency response but with 1/3rd the price. The Sennheiser headphone has very good reviews from audiophiles alike but i have not yet tried them out since they are outside my budget. The comfort otherwise is great and feels solid for a reasonably priced headphone.
Bottom line is please don't buy this headphone without trying at a store first. I bought it here at Massdrop, bore the additional costs of shipping to India, just to find out that they actually suck. A lot.
Full bodied sound? No way!
I burned in the headphones for 120 hrs straight before this review. Below is the equipment i used.
