Ah, these were my favorite IEM for YEARS, for daily use. Having owned over 100 pairs, I definitely kept coming back to these. My first pair had the left channel die after a year and my second pair had a shorter cord for some reason, but sounded the same. Heard a lot of flak regarding build but other than driver failure, I've had no problems the 4 years I've been using two different sets of PL50s. Sony Hybrids fit well (unstretched ones) and are what I would recommend. Compared these to the Shure SE535 and honestly the midrange on both are pretty comparable -- both absolutely fantastic! SE535 has a more even overall sound and really picks up the low end where the PL50 is very light on, but I couldn't justify 10x the price. Not to mention the comfort is out of this world with these due to their size and weight (lack thereof) and I find them to be THE #1 pick for lying down/sleeping. For $30?! I may just have to buy a couple. Bought my previous two pairs for something like $55 and $60. Worth every last penny.

ZorbzInteresting. What's the most expensive IEM you've owned?

OferA83, FLC8S, SE535, W3, and W4 are probably the most expensive ones. Other notable ones include IM02, DBA-02, RE600, P1, e-Q5, 7550, BA200, and GR07. Most IEMs I've had are under $200. Been pretty disappointed with the pricey ones and don't always think they offer something more than their cheaper rivals, so I find I enjoy the slightly cheaper price bracket when it comes to IEMs. That being said, I actually now use the B100 as my daily over the PL50, but I will ALWAYS have a PL50 ready and waiting for backup.

ZorbzSorry for derailing, but I have to ask - since the B100 are now your dailies, do you actually prefer their sound over the W4's and SE535's?

nizwizOver the W4? Absolutely. Not quite sure on the SE535 since I never got to directly compare them. The SE535 is definitely my favorite sounding of the more expensive IEMs I've owned but I wasn't a huge fan of the fit. I could imagine with me being satisfied with the PL50 over the SE535 that I'd feel the same with the B100 since I prefer the B100 over the PL50.

ZorbzThanks! I guess I will have to get me a pair of B100, then. You should maybe post your praise in the B100 discussion, since it's also dropping right now.

ZorbzHello, can you share if the PL50 are still your go to? I am currently using the Pinnacle PX and Brainwavz B100, have owned Creative Aurvana In-Ear 3, KZ ZS3, KZ ATR before and liked the ATH-E40/IM02/LS200 if that helps.
I recall in a older reply to me you mentioned using B100s as a daily with these as a backup. Would you still say the same today?
