I agree with most of the others. The stand is a joke. We're not talking about tight tolerances here... just a simple round hole that is deep enough to prevent the locks from rattling around. I simply don't understand how that got overlooked. Obviously it wasn't overlooked and they just didn't care which is worse.
Moving on to the locks - I have a teeny tiny bit of experience playing around with a cheap pick set and whatever old locks I would find lying around. With that, I was through all five of these in no time at all and what's even more ridiculous is that I got through locks 1, 2 and 3 with JUST the tension bar alone using it to rake the pins into place and spin the lock in just a few motions. Locks 4 and 5 took a whole five minutes each.
Now the pick set itself. Is someone actually trying to tell me that these are quality tools? Hey listen, I'm a sucker for quality tools. I'm the same dummy who pays $50-$60 each for Snap=On wrenches and whatnot, so yeah, I'm not afraid to spend on what I believe to be quality. These paper thin pieces of punched metal are not quality by any measure.
At the end of the day, I received a useless piece of wood, five crappy and useless locks and a pick set that isn't strong enough to pick my teeth much less any real lock. Thanks for nothing Massdrop. I have been using this site for quite some time and I've spent a fair amount of money here and all the while, I never voiced my feelings about how many of these drops save the buyer a couple of dollars at the expense of having to wait for often times MONTHS to receive the item. I haven't complained about the total lack of structure, in that the drop organizer never really has any information about their particular drop. I would expect the person running the drop to be at least an enthusiast if not an expert and thereby providing some guidance or personal opinion as to why they are pushing their drop as opposed to a competitor's product.
However, with this ridiculous excuse for a high-end product, I am most likely truly done with Massdrop for good, as they have made it perfectly clear that they have no interest in the quality of the products being sold, the amount of money being saved for the customer or the timeliness of the drop fulfillment. So if they don't care then I'm certainly not going to.
Just my personal opinion. Am I turning into a grumpy old cow in my old age or do any of you agree with me on this stuff? I really would like to hear.
