Why is standard ss more expensive than the flamed SS?
Miguel_Sanchezthe prices on checkout are correct, I think it was just a Mixup.

What's the difference between the ceramic and ruby?

FuhriousFrom my understanding, there is a difference in the hardness. I'm not sure if there is really much of a difference in the performance.

FuhriousThe ruby is higher than ceramic on the mohs hardness scale so in in theory it would spin longer/smoother. In reality you won't see a performance difference with a ruby vs. ceramic. The difference is the bling factor, a ruby bearing looks awsome against the stainless steel.
The downside with a ruby is it can break a lot easier than ceramic. It is durable and under normal use there's no issue but if dropped by accident it will break where a ceramic wouldn't (same height drop).
I have this exact top with a ruby and love it, great quality - especially at this price point. That being said almost all my other tops (around 40 or so) have ceramic bearings. Generally I go with ceramic with the more expensive tops but at this price it was worth the risk to me to go for the ruby. I've spun the "bleep" out of it with zero issue's and no regrets.

This look is a lot like a Kenn Jordan design. Jordan Metal Art. Was he involved in this?
BeardyI 3rd @Theredcomet, it is a standard piece that was devised many decades ago at the very least. consider it an open source design, like a cube or sphere. no one owns it or has the exclusive rights to it.

@okester @BrainFlush Their business plan is to make us give them all our monies, and make all our kids go to clown school as a result.

BobrazI'd laugh more about that result, however, then I'd jinx myself for making fun of that idea and then that'd somehow come to pass.
