Hey everyone, a few people have asked about price so I wanted to help set expectations with some background info:
$160 - MSRP for Delica 4: FRN handle, ZDP-189 $15 - MSRP to add standard black titanium carbonitride blade treatment on Delica $50 to $90 - Price range for aftermarket G-10 scales $ ?????????? - Value of limited edition of 1000 $ ?????????? - Value of (debut of new) blade treatment $ ?????????? - Value of only Delica 4 available with factory G-10
If it was available for general sale, the MSRP of this knife would be $285. As most Spyderco fans know, the company instituted a MAP policy for production knives at the beginning of 2016. While most production knives are now sold by most resellers at 40% below MSRP, limited editions and sprint runs are not generally sold at such deep discounts.
I hope this helps. We worked hard with our partners at Spyderco to make a special knife available to the community, and to make it a solid value. We hope this result is a "must-have" for collectors, and an exciting new knife that will introduce Spyderco's knives and Massdrop's EDC community to a whole new group of enthusiasts.

JonasHeinemanI thought the point of massdrop is to provide group sales at such deep discounts?
JonasHeinemanIt is far from a "must-have" for me. I'll let the speculators have them all to squirrel away in their safes.

JonasHeinemanits too bad you won't find 250 people insane enough to buy this. let alone you will then have to find the rest of the 600 people insane enough later on. I've bought a few spyderco sprints... and this one is a no brainer to anyone to avoid. who makes the decision for picking out these knives for Massdrop? you need to fire that person.

JonasHeinemanThis crowd is short on thank-yous for all your efforts, Jonas. Thank you. I am a ZDP-189 fan and will not be disappointed in this knife. While most members gripe and turn away, I will quietly buy up a few... And when they only make 600, I will eventually sell or trade a few. Sprint run of 600 to one seller! Money in the bank!

Axeguy I don't think you understand, alot of people are pumped for this, but who can afford $200 for a knife like this, I really wanted one but this crushes me and i hope they can get the price down to something more in line with my budget! Which i believe is the core problem for most people. I love the idea of massdrop and spyderco collaborating, but the price needs to come down a little for the bulk of us to enjoy it!

JonnyJWell, it really comes down to what it's worth to you. If you are on Massdrop, you are probably spending money on things you don't need. This is one of those things. I felt there was a lot of whining when it was a hotly anticipated item. You either get it or not, but every whiny comment was beginning to sound monotonous. You're all grown men.

Axeguy sure but complaining about the complainers in no better, everyone has said what they had to say and the good people at massdrop noticed the community. I respect massdrop for responding appropriately, now its time to wait and see what can be done. No matter what end your on doesnt matter but dont act like your on some higher ground when your whining about the whiners!

JonnyJOne comment of this nature is not whining. But an entire discussion rife with selfish complaints: fails to be a discussion; provides zero insight to anyone reading for detail on the topic; and is whining. As well, failure to consider the time and effort Jonas Heinemann put into making this unique knife available to us is...inconsiderate.
