SpykexxI mean from the photo you provided you can tell it's not the same as the black box next to it. It's close no doubt but it seems to have a hue of green.

HtownTexanIn person there's zero green hue. The box is also matte vs shiny plastic. Of the pictures I've seen mines way darker

SpykexxFrom the photos it looks green to me. Looks the same as my green ZDP and the same as the photo on the spyderco product page, and the same as the paper catalogue I have. http://www.spyderco.com/catalog/details.php?product=633
No sarcasm intended, maybe a type of colorblindness makes it difficult to differentiate?
I confirmed through googling around that there isnt a black zdp. Did find many people asking the same question. A fairly trusted reviewer at Everyday Commentary, Anthony, noted "It is VERY dark green. It is noticeably green in regular daylight." In response to the same question.
If no colorblindness and you are sure it is black, maybe inspect for signs of it being fake? You can always send it to Spyderco for confirmation and a sharpening. Hopefully someone else can chime in and confirm, but I am holding a paper copy of the catalogue here and it only lists green for ZDP. The only black handled df2s listed are the plain edge and serrated in VG10. This was pretty consistent for Spyderco, with other ZDP models (like the ladybug and delica) also coming in british racing green.
In any event, it looks the color it looks to you and this is mostly a needless discussion. The awesome thing is the steel you got. It can be a bit brittle so do not pry with the tip. It can be a bit tough to sharpen but it holds a nice edge. It is somewhat rust prone so just make sure to keep it dry.

OhapleDo a Google for spyderco British green. While dark it's close to forest green just darker. This isn't even remotely close. Maybe dyes mixed wrong?
Of three people in my house, one being a graphics artist/developer everyone else agrees it's definitely black in person lol
We've seen it in day light, high power light etc. Lol. Realistically I think I like it this way better haha
