I am a big Spyderco fan, but I would like to see a review by someone who owns one of these, are they any good? Also, they should throw a Spyderco hole in there just so people know this is not a normal kitchen knife set (and show off the trademark).

Mike-from-PhillyIf you're a big fan, you need these. They are an interesting steel, maybe not comparable to high end chef knives but these are meant to be cool home knives. I have the 3 pictured as well as 2 paramilitary2s, manix2, sage1, and a tenacious. These knives came very sharp (especially the santoku) - easy to sharpen and holds a pretty good edge. I purchased these a mostly because all of our kitchen knives are serrated and I hate serrated blades. So I love these knives. My only complaint is related to laziness.... IF you leave them in the sink with water on them they will develop rust. Obviously that was my fault and one time a house guest ran one through the dishwasher and it left a little mark on one blade. But other than that... these are a must have for a Spyderco fan. The handles feel a little cheap, but they are tremendously grippy so that is a trade off for me.
(And yes I agree, I wanted a Spyder hole on them but the logo is cool enough)

Subiesaurus_R3XCool! Thanks for the info! Probably will jump on this (even though there is no Spyderco hole lol).

Mike-from-PhillyI think putting the signature Spyderco hole on a kitchen knife would probably encourage the growth of mold, bacteria, etc. Not exactly something you'd want to happen in a knife for use in a kitchen. That aside it would take a little more effort to clean, especially when you look at the scallops on most Santoku knives as an example. Aesthetically, it would go with the brand and look great, though not practical for what the knives are intended for.
And yes, the Spyderco kitchen knives are scary sharp out of the box. I managed a few minor cuts when handling the knife carefully. In my opinion, the factory sharpness is better than most of their folding knives in VG10 (not ZDP-189).

Mike-from-PhillyI own these 3, plus the cook’s knife with the corian handle. They are all excellent knives. They come razor sharp from the factory. VG 10 steel was conceived for professionals use in kitchen knives. It works very well for that purpose. These are not cleavers. That is to say they function well for slicing, chopping, dicing and the like but they aren’t a thick heavy blade. I use mine in the kitchen whenever I‘m cooking which is several times a week. Easy to maintain the edge on these with the Sharpmaker from Spyderco.
