A staple in the Spyderco lineup, the Manix 2 is versatile, rugged, and lightweight. It features a 3.4-inch blade made from CTS-BD1, a high-carbon chromium steel with high hardness and excellent wear resistance Read More
I would not pay$90 for BD1. I paid about twice that for this knife with G10 and S90V. I have no problems toting this around. It might become my EDCM. In fact, I have already cut myself a couple of times. It's quite sharp.----- I have a Blur n BDZ1. It's OK, but nothing to write home about.
Good knife.
Handle feels cheap (it's a beater not a safe queen) and lock is real stiff until it wears in.
Don't expect axis lock style action. Much stiffer.
One of the most ergonomic designs on the market, and fills the hand extremely well.
Excellent slicer due to ffg, and very tall blade.
Enormous in the pocket. Fairly long and very wide. Not really feasible for edc in jeans. Unless you want to surrender a pocket to it. Should be fine in pants with wider pockets since it is quite light for the size.
DangocrazyI swore off FRN scaled knives, long ago. I love the Manix 2, but had only been buying it in the G10 models. The other day, I decided to finally give this LW model a chance. Mainly, because a friend had a nearly new orange one he wanted to sell, and it was a heck of a deal. So I bought it, and Wow! Was I impressed. It really feels nice in the hand. Surprisingly so. These FRCP scales, feel extremely dense, and give off a great sound, when opening. I'm happy I took a chance on it. I think you will be too. Plus, you get that great wire pocket-clip!
rdodevBD1 is a vacuum melted steel with edge retention similar to vg-10 but perhaps a tad tougher. Has a shit ton of chromium, so should be fairly stainless. I haven't abused it all that hard, but haven't had any staining either.
The knife came in on time but the first time I went to cut a plastic zip-tie the edge rolled on it. And the grinds on the blade are uneven but that's just me being picky.
JoeInOurayThey can raise the price after I have joined? Let’s say it in a very friendly way: I am surprised...
does anyone remember the exact prices before the rise?
I love the Manix, it’s a sexy, beast of a knife. However, I feel the translucent blue FRN scales do it a disservice. Use one with G10 scales and you will understand.

BenzoSpyderco's frn handles make them feel cheap imo. I understand it saves weight but I can't get past the "gas station" $1 knife feel of it. Agree about the G10 being a major upgrade. I can't believe spyderco removed the stainless steel liners from the frn knives. I just received a dragonfly 2 and it is soooooo disappointing. I'll try and get a pic of the all plastic handle
